About
Lady Bay Arts

Who are we?

Lady Bay Arts is a not for profit community organisation, committed to delivering a range of arts and creative activities across the community, culminating with our annual ‘Festival Weekend’ which takes place in May.

We are working towards becoming a Community Interest Company (CIC) which will embed a not for profit framework throughout all our activities, including events, creativity grants and more.

A brief history

Lady Bay Arts is a community arts organisation based in Lady Bay, south of the River Trent in Nottingham. Lady Bay Arts has been a feature of the East Midlands Art Scene for 25+ years following its inception at Lady Bay Open Studios in the 1990s.

Since then, we have evolved and expanded thanks to the mammoth efforts of successive groups of volunteers. Our name has changed a few times too - we have been known as Lady Bay Arts Festival and Lady Bay Arts Trail.

The success of the annual open studios, festivals and trails sits very much with the community of Lady Bay who demonstrate a generosity and openness to welcoming people into the area to experience art in homes, businesses and public buildings.

There is always a wonderful atmosphere and seeing the many visitors, artists and hosts enjoying the events drives us to keep going year on year.

A massive thank you to everyone who has been involved over the last decades, and in particular the previous coordinators who have championed all things Lady Bay and have laid the groundwork for Lady Bay Arts to grow.

Lady Bay Arts Team

Our Coordinator is supported by a steering group of 12 committed volunteers from Lady Bay who get involved everything from our work with children, young people and families; artists, designers and makers; local residents, businesses and community leaders; amongst others. The steering group is diverse and includes artists and designers, education specialists, project managers and more.

Since the pandemic, Lady Bay Arts has been developing to look at ways that we can continue to celebrate creative communities in all forms and to making our activities meaningful and celebratory.
