About the ‘Hands on Heart’ Community Project

Following on from the success of the 2024 community quilt, this year’s Lady Bay Arts community project is entitled Hand on Heart.

Come and be part of the project that celebrates our hands and the multitude of ways in which they may serve us, connect us, and provide a blueprint for our own unique identity. 

You are welcome to come to one or all of our workshops where you will have the opportunity to paint, draw, colour, stitch, write, collage a contribution of one of your hands (a paper version, not the real thing!) to come together in a giant display, indeed a show of hands, on the Lady Bay Arts Weekend on May 17th and 18th 2025.

To those who say ‘ I’m not creative’ we can lead you through every step of the process. To those who are skilled and experienced with art materials, please come and let us be inspired by you. And to everyone reading this, we’d love to invite you to come and play, explore, experiment in our sweet shop of art materials and convivial company. Also, to answer a chief concern, there will be biscuits.

Five years ago the pandemic called on us to at least keep our hands clean and to ourselves and at worst beware of them. Hand on Heart will enable us to celebrate and enjoy our hands once again, and to connect and create together.
